Hello loyal readers! That picture above? Just me during happy hour acting silly with my wife’s cocktail. We are going to take a break from our Sazerac series so I can catch you up with some personal stuff. I sometimes do this, as I like to write and figure one or two of you out there may be interested in peeking into my little corner of the world! So, here we go with another edition of things I am digging.

A NEW HOUSE!!

Yay! We got all of our stuff out of our other house and moved into the new. We are learning the nuances of our new place, but overall I am loving it. The layout is much better for everybody (including our furry family). A few things that are a bit different are:

  • We now have a glasstop stove and so far I hate it! It is super slow to heat up and it takes longer to cook things.
  • We have a HUUUGE sunroom with windows on 3 sides, so that should be pretty awesome for food pictures.
  • Big yard for my big dog.

We still don’t know where much is and all sorts of stuff is still in boxes, but we are getting there.

Superbowl Sunday This Weekend!

I don’t have any real stakes in this game, but it is always fun to watch all the hooplah. Also, the North Dakota native and NDSU alumni, Carson Wentz, plays for The Eagles, so I am excited for him. Even though he is injured, he was a big part of the team this year and if the Vikings can’t be there, I am gonna have to root him and Philadelphia on!

Vacation!

In the near future, we are going to visit my moms in San Diego! The days are starting to get counted down. That is super exciting and the middle of North Dakota winter is always the best time to get down there. We are gonna go to our favorite spots and probably visit a few new ones, as well.

The Drapery Rod

Found this while moving. I hope the designer got demoted.

The Drapery Rod

I am NOT digging my phone! Uggh.

The dumb thing is broken. Well, a pretty minor thing, but it is annoying as hell. The microphone that does the selfie videos and that Siri listens to doesn’t seem to be working. I tried all the stuff and bringing it in is the next step. It would be really nice if we could have a few months without big expenses or shit breaking. phooey.

Oh, here, have a picture of Kate Winslet deciding I am her chair.

What kind of stove did you have before? I love cooking on gas stoves but here in FL most are electric. Mine is glasstop too and it does take longer to heat things!

I just had a regular electric stove. I would love to have gas, but just isn’t in the cards for right now. It makes me mad, though, as this thing doesn’t get as hot either. I almost wonder if there isn’t a control on the stove itself that can impact the overall heat. sigh.

Congrats on the new house! I’m sure you two will enjoy that big yard as much as Kate does.

But you do need to switch out that glasstop stove as soon as you can. I have some limited experience with them as my folks have one. Terrible to cook with, although they’re really easy to clean. Gas is definitely the way to go if you can manage it. Otherwise, what about induction? I’ve never tried it but heard excellent things, and no need to run an extra gas line.

My mom loves her induction stov, but it then becomes about making sure all my cookware is ok for it. Gas is an option and would be awesome.
