Alright, folks… when I cook things for luxury, I am not afraid to add calories, fat, butter, cream or any other ingredient. But if I ate like that everyday, I may not make it out of bed. For that reason, most of the week I eat things that have a bit of a healthier kick. For that reason, I am also going to include a list of the best healthy hamburger recipes from around the internet.
First, I am not gonna lie that I think that there is a REAL replacement for a good ol’ juicy hamburger, but it is not for a lack of trying. I have tried healthy hamburger recipes using turkey meat, vegetarian, and some store bought alternatives. I actually eat meat alternative hamburgers semi-regularly and think there are some decent ones out there. There are some winners in the pack, but the key to making these burgers taste alright are condiments, spices, and adornments that help lift the flavor.
Healthy hamburger recipes with meat
Greek Turkey Burger with Tzatziki Sauce – with some flavorful mixins and the legendary Greek sauce, this buger will make your taste buds and calorie count happy.
Spinach Feta Turkey Burgers – It is hard to go wrong with cheese, right? And you get your greens in?
Buffalo Turkey Burgers – I don’t know about you, but I love me some wings and if that flavor can be placed on healthy hamburger recipes, sight me up!
Grilled Portobello Mushroom Burger – SIMPLICITY! There are other burger replacements that take quite a bit of effort, but this alternative (that comes in under 300 calories) is both easy and tasty.
Quinoa Black Bean Burgers – This will get you your protien and fiber needs! This can help you quench your burger tastes without the actual burger.
Spicy Cauliflower Burgers – I love these guys. Here, we might be stretching the definition of a burger substitute, but this will be healthy and this burger does pack a flavor punch.
Store bought meat alternative hamburgers
The Beast Burger by Beyond Meat – I have a clear favorite for store bought hamburger alternatives. The Beast Burger is a GREAT substitute for a burger. I have tried many other alternatives and some have been pretty good, but this, IMO, definitely is in a class by itself in terms of a substitute that looks and tastes like a burger.
