Before we get too far into our Greyhound cocktail series, I thought it would be fun to acclimate ourselves back to the vodka world. Vodka is the most common spirit used in a Greyhound. We visited the Moscow Mule a few series back, so we are no stranger to the spirit. In search of the best Greyhound, however, I want to take another look at different vodka drinks and recipes from around the internet. In my search for great vodka drinks and recipes, I found some blog posts that really stand out. Today, I am going to share what I found and would encourage you to visit these great blogs with great vodka related cocktails and dishes.
I looooove Italian food and gnocchi is no exception. These fluffy little clouds of yummy goodness are so awesome. Add in a tasty vodka sauce and you have yourself an excellent dish. Natasha provides a simple, elegant, gnocchi recipe that makes my mouth water. Now, the recipe calls for uncooked gnocchi. You can buy them, but don’t be afraid to whip up your own batch of them. It will take a bit of extra time, but they are pretty easy to make and level your cooking game up tenfold.
It is tough to talk about vodka drinks without talking about the classic Vodka Martini. Like 007, Elaine likes her vodka martini shaken and not stirred. I also like it this way UNLESS all of the ingredients and glass start off cold. Frozen glass and vodka stored in the freezer. She makes an opinionated and elegant vodka martini that I certainly would drink. In fact, I think I might want a martini tonight!
This vodka drink looks like a dessert. I want to eat it! It might be a fall sort of recipe, but there is no reason that you shouldn’t make it tonight. The recipe looks really good and she takes a really good photograph. In terms of vodka drinks, Ali hit a home run with this great looking cocktail.
Gina loves running. I have a complicated relationship with running that includes a marathon completion and a knee surgery just a few months ago. I am back at the gym in a weight lifting capacity and not sure where my running future lies. She also has a beautiful kitchen, a gorgeous puppy dog, and an awesome philosophy on food. This Salty Dog cocktail is simple, elegant, and great looking. We are almost verging on greyhound cocktail territory here and love the spirit of the Salty Dog in our look at vodka drinks!
Alright, in terms of vodka drinks, this is beautiful. Dini calls it a Campfire White Russian and this drink emotes all sorts of stuff in my belly and heart. The White Russian gives me all sorts Big Lebowski feels. Expresso seems to add a touch of class to the mix. And the toasted marshmallows give it a campfire feeling. There is so much going on with this and suspect the drink is a rich flavor bomb. I love it.
I had to include this one. There are all sorts of fun elements to this drink. It has cotton candy in it and that pearl dust that really gives a magical feel to a drink. While I have not messed with the stuff yet, it looks like it can really make an interesting drink. While I am not sure I would drink this straight, I think there are lots of options for using this moonshine in other cocktails for a great flavor. Basically, take other vodka drinks and substitute this moonshine that is made from Everclear and vodka. Nice work, Jaclyn!
