Description

Get ready to fire up your grill and elevate your summer cookout with this easy, yet impressive side dish: Grilled Green Beans with in a Foil Packet. We’re taking fresh, crisp green beans, tossing them with aromatic thyme and a generous sprinkle of savory Parmesan. There’s a hint of garlic to make everything pop, and a squeeze of lemon juice for a zesty finish. All these flavors come together beautifully as we wrap them up in a foil packet and grill to perfection. This is a crowd-pleaser that’s sure to have everyone coming back for seconds!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound Green Beans, cleaned
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt + more to flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 Garlic clove, minced
  • 8 medium sprigs of fresh Thyme (about 2 teaspoons dried thyme)
  • 1/2 cup fresh parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice (about 1/2 lemon)

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to about 375° Fahrenheit.
  2. In Mixing bowl, combine beans, oil, salt, pepper, and garlic.
  3. Spread out a sheet of tinfoil that will fit the green beans.
  4. Place 4 sprigs of Thyme on bottom of tin foil, add beans, remaining cleaned thyme leaves, and then spread parmesan cheese on top.
  5. Place a second sheet of tinfoil on top and close each of the sides. Try to eliminate any way for beans or liquid to escape
  6. Place over direct heat.
  7. Remove at 15 minutes, careful to open as steam will be hot, and serve.

Notes

  • Preheat the grill. A hot grill cooks beans evenly. Aim for about 375° Fahrenheit.
  • Mix well. Make sure the beans are well coated with oil and seasonings. Every bite should be flavorful.
  • Layer smart. Start with thyme on the foil. Then add the beans and more thyme. Finish with Parmesan. This gives a balance of flavors.
  • Seal tight. Close your foil packet well. We want all the flavors and juices to stay inside.
  • Let them cool. Be careful when opening the packet. Hot steam can burn. Let them cool for a bit before serving.
