🍲 Instructions

Get ready to grill! Start by firing up your grill to about 375° Fahrenheit. It’s the perfect temp to cook our green beans just right.

Now, let’s prep our beans. In a mixing bowl, combine the beans, oil, salt, pepper, and garlic. Make sure every bean gets a good coating. Flavor is key here. Next, spread out a sheet of tin foil. It’s going to hold our tasty beans.

It’s layering time. Start with four sprigs of thyme on the foil. Then pile on your seasoned beans. Sprinkle the rest of your thyme leaves. Top it off with the Parmesan cheese. This will give us a cheesy, flavorful crust.

Cover it up with another tin foil sheet. Close each side. Make it tight. We want to keep all the flavors locked in. It’s now ready for the grill. Place your packet over direct heat. Set your timer for 15 minutes.

When the time’s up, you’re in for a treat. Carefully open your packet. Let the steam escape. A whiff of that savory, smoky aroma will tell you – you’ve made something amazing. Enjoy your grilled green beans!

🤷 Substitutions and variations

This recipe is versatile. You can change things up to suit your taste.

Not a fan of thyme? No problem. Swap it out for rosemary. Or try basil. Even a sprinkle of Italian seasoning works. Play with the herbs you love.

Cheese choices can change, too. If Parmesan is not your thing, try Pecorino Romano. It’s another hard cheese with a salty kick. Want to go softer? A sprinkle of crumbled feta adds a tangy touch.

Garlic lovers can add more. If garlic is not your favorite, leave it out. You could also try shallots. They add a delicate, sweet flavor.

The key with substitutions is balance. Switch things up. Keep the flavors harmonized. Each bite should make your taste buds sing. Experiment and enjoy!

📦 Storage

Made too many beans? No worries. Storage is simple. Here’s how to save those leftover grilled green beans.

Let your beans cool first. You don’t want to trap the steam. Once they’re room temperature, it’s time to pack them up. Use airtight containers. They keep your beans fresh.

Fridge or freezer? Both work. In the fridge, they’ll last about 3-4 days. Need to store them longer? Go for the freezer. They can stay fresh for up to 3 months there.

When you’re ready to eat, reheating is easy. If they’re frozen, let them thaw in the fridge overnight. Then, heat them on the stove or in the microwave. Just until they’re warm.

Enjoy your beans, fresh or reheated. Every bite will remind you of your grilling success.

🎓 History tidbit

Green beans have been around a long time. Their history is fascinating. These beans have traveled the world.

Green beans started in South America. They have been in our diets for thousands of years. Then explorers came along. They took the beans on their journeys. Beans traveled to Europe, Africa, and Asia. They became a global veggie.

But they didn’t always look like they do today. The beans we know and love were bred over time. Breeders selected the best plants. They looked for long, green, and stringless pods. That’s how we got the green beans we grill today.

So when you’re grilling green beans, remember. You’re cooking a veggie that’s been around for millennia. It’s a little piece of history right on your grill.
