This is a delicious dessert salad. Give it a try.

🍫 What makes this recipe special?

If you are a fan of Snickers and apples, you are destined to enjoy this dessert. It is full of wonderful sweet flavors.

Apples come in both sweet and tart flavors. It has a sweet binder made with cream cheese and whipped marshmallow fluff. Then, finally, all of the flavors of a Snickers bar.

This treat is full of great contrasting textures, as well. The apples bring some crispness to the dish. The cream cheese and whipped marshmallows bring creaminess to the plate.

The wet ingredients add texture and serves as a binder for the entire dish. Chewy chunks of Snickers mix into the dish, bringing a unique contrast to the crispness of the apples. Perhaps the texture combination resembles a caramel apple, but there is so much more going on.

You don’t need a reason to serve this, but I have some events in mind for this Snickers apple salad. I imagine it as a dessert for Thanksgiving, Easter, or Christmas. Maybe it would be great for a potluck, as you can be pretty sure nobody else is making a Snickers salad.

🍏 Ingredients

Well, Snickers is the obvious star of a Snickers Salad recipe. Still, there are a few other ingredients that pull this sweet recipe together.

One dish that contains the marshmallow puff and cream cheese, but two others that contain the apples and Snickers.
This is such an easy recipe and is almost as simple as mixing the stuff together!
  • Cream cheese
  • Marshmallow Fluff
  • Snickers bars
  • Delicious red apples
  • Granny smith apples
  • Caramel for topping (optional)

See the recipe card for quantities.

Marshmallow Fluff

I choose to use Marshmallow Creme, a marshmallow fluff brand. Use what you have, but Marshmallow Creme is widely available and reasonably priced.

Apples

Green and red apples are an excellent combination of flavors, tartness, and colors. While these are the best apples, it is ok to use what you have.

Delicious Red Apples are available everywhere. While not my favorite apple to snack on, they are great for this recipe. And Granny Smith apples are such great tart apples for dessert applications.

🍲 Instructions

This recipe is so simple. Mix up the fluff and softened cream cheese.

Add in the chopped apples and snickers. Fold and mix.

Finally, and optionally, top with caramel. Finally, serve at your holiday party or at your dinner table.

🤷 Substitutions and variations

There are a few ways that this can be changed up.

  • Apples – I recommend granny smith apples and delicious red apples, but use what you have.
  • Cream cheese – Use full-fat cream cheese, but you can lighten this up a little using fat-free cream cheese.
  • Caramel – Caramel topping is optional.
  • Cool Whip – You could also top with Cool Whip.

📦 Storage

I would consider making this for any event you serve on the same day. In between preparation and serving, just store it in the refrigerator. While I wouldn’t leave this dish out for a day, it is sturdy and fine out of the fridge for several hours. Perfect for a potluck or picnic.

I put it in the refrigerator and tried it the next day. It still tastes fine, but it just isn’t as good. It doesn’t look as good and needed to be stirred.

Don’t freeze this recipe.

🎓 Snickers History Tidbit

If you follow Ramshackle Pantry, you know I like to dive a bit into the history of my dishes. The star of this show is the Snickers, so I thought I would throw in a cool little tidbit about the history of the Snickers bar.

The Snickers bar was first released in 1930 by Mars. The story goes that the name Snickers was first held by the favorite racehorse of the family. They decided to give the title to the latest candy bar, and it stuck.

  1. I made this for the family last weekend and this is a keeper. Yes, it is not an every day sort of recipe, but it will be a great Easter dessert.
