Oh, what a fun drink this is! We are deep in the middle of our Moscow Mule series and changing it up with some interesting flavors, Limoncello and lavender. One of the really neat things about these flavors is that you can make the individual components to go along with it!

Limoncello and lavender go excellently together and when combined in this classic cocktail, really makes for a great drink! Take a chance on this Limoncello and Lavender Moscow Mule and make one tonight.

Lavender Infused Vodka

Here is a recipe for Lavender Extract.

The extract we are using is the DIY version and really is just a lavender infused vodka.  You may need to change your recipe depending on the formula of the lavender extract you are using. So, our recipe includes vodka and lavender.

I suspect the extract you may buy at your local store may not be the same, but look at the ingredients. You are going to have to use your best judgment to get the appropriate levels of taste and alcohol. I am relying on the extract to add to the taste and ABV of the cocktail.

Limoncello

Interestingly enough, we also have some homemade limoncello brewing, as well. Unfortunately, it is not ready to be used in our Limoncello and Lavender Moscow Mule as it was not started with this series in mind.

We just wanted some limoncello. Fear not, faithful reader, as your local adult beverage store should have plenty of options for really great limoncello. Incidentally, limoncello also has vodka as the base alcohol. Sugar, water, and lemons are added and then aged to make the spirit.

Limoncello and Lavender Moscow Mule Recipe

Really, the cocktail is very similar to the original Mule. We are removing the vodka and then adding the flavors we want, which happen to have a base spirit of vodka along with the flavors we love. So, enjoy this new take on the classic Moscow Mule.

  1. ok I need to make lavender extract!! No idea why I hadn’t thought of this before. I should have told my mum to get my some from south France, the lavender there is different. They even make lavender honey. Limoncello and lavender must be pairing so well in your drink, I would love a cup full!

    1. ooo… I am a beekeeper. I am going to have to think about that. Or is it honey from lavender fields?
My bees are on an organic apple orchard, but there is lot’s of clover around the orchard, as well.

  2. I love Moscow Mules, but have never thought to make them with Limoncello. What a great, refreshing twist

  3. Oh I haven’t had a good moscow mule in ages now that I am off alcohol for a while. I love limoncello so this would be my treat. Saving for later.

  4. Lemon and lavender go together so wonderfully. And thanks for the tips on making our own lavender extract too.

  5. Oh Boy!! I bet that mule has some kick!! We’ve made limoncello before but I don’t remember having a drink with lavendar in it. Very interesting. I’d love to have some right now. Perhaps it would warm me — it’s so cold outside!! I’ll have to pin this and give it a go.

  6. This sounds like SUCH an awesome cocktail! Love the mix of lavender and lemon – I bet those bright flavors make you feel like spring is on the way!

  7. This sounds like such an awesome flavor combination! I love the lemon-lavender combination in desserts…I bet it is amazing as a drink, too.

  8. Oh wow, this recipe has everything I love …….. limoncello, lavender, ginger beer …… I cannot wait to try it. What a fantastic creation! 6 stars!

  9. I love your creations, Ben! Always wanted to know, why Moscow mule is actually called after Moscow? I am from Russia but not aware of it ?

    1. Did you see the post on the creation? The name of the cocktail was made by American marketers at a time when Vodka was not popular in the US. Vodka is associated with Russia and Moscow would just help connect those dots.
