The Mojito is a tropical cocktail anyways and today we are going to cool it down even a bit more with the Mojitarita Milkshake. Part Mint Margarita and part creamy dessert make this drink a favorite adult frozen drink.
There are so many great dessert flavors going on in this drink that it is tough to do it justice with a name, but we found one. The Mojitarita Milkshake! This is a boozy ice cream dessert that mixes the classic margarita with a classic mojito. Or maybe a mint margarita mashed up into an ice cream milkshake. No matter how we combine the words, this is an easy and tasty adult milkshake. We are diving deeper into our margarita series, but also re-exploring our Mojito series we did in 2017. If you have a blender and a few ingredients, you can make the Mojitarita Milkshake today!
Mint Is In Full Season! Mint Margarita?
While trying to think of different variations, we also were having a discussion in our house about how our mint plants were going crazy. If you have ever grown mint, you know that when they become healthy, they can really produce. And mojitos are our go-to mint cocktail, but I have been spending my allocated drink allowance on margaritas. And yes… as a cocktail blogger… I have to be a little aware of how much tasting I do. I don’t really have an allowance, but it is probably a good idea to be aware of just how much experimenting and research I am spending in the bottle. Lol.
So, I started thinking about maybe trying a mint margarita. At the same time, I was tossing around the idea of a frozen ice cream margarita dessert. Both Ashley and I discussed how a mojito milkshake could be really good. Well, why not bring some of the fruity flavors of the margarita into this mix. This mint margarita, in milkshake form, has really turned into a wonderful drink that I am proud of.
Use Tequila Blanco in this Mojitarita
As we discussed in our post about tequila, there are different kinds of tequila. The youngest of which is tequila Blanco. This is a spirit that has spent very little, if any, time in oak barrels. I think tequila Blanco is the most appropriate for this drink, as I am not sure if I think oak flavors will mesh well with the rest of the flavor. The agave can, however, add some great flavors to this mint margarita in a milkshake… the Mojitarita!
What Kind Of Ice Cream Should I Use?
The recipe calls for vanilla ice cream, but then I add some lime juice. It may be a viable alternative to use lime ice cream or a sorbet, but I did not experiment with them. I also thought about making ice cream from scratch, which would be great, as well. I just decided that Vanilla Ice cream from the store would work great for our mint margarita variation.
Here is the thing about our Mojitarita… it is just a fun, tasty drink. Get your blenders out and make this adult dessert drink tonight to get a taste of our summer in a cup. Don’t forget to subscribe to get updates via email AND also to follow me on Instagram!
